Since 1860, Marsden Building Society has grown steadily
as a strong independent regional building society with assets now exceeding
£310 million. As a mutual we are run entirely for the benefit of our
members, a membership base which now exceeds forty thousand. Unlike the high
street banks, we do not pay a dividend to shareholders, enabling the Society
to pass extra benefits to members.
We have a strong affinity with the operational regions we serve. Through our retail network, direct sales operation and sponsorship activities, we are able to support a wide range of groups, intermediaries and events in the North West. Our regional operation provides us with the depth of local knowledge to provide a bespoke mortgage and savings service. We place emphasis on using local suppliers. In addition, the Marsden is a significant local employer providing jobs for over 150 people.
The Marsden operation today continues to be true to the principles of our founders, remaining focused on home ownership and savings. We have chosen not to diversify into such areas as internet banking, estate agency or stockbroking, preferring to concentrate on core services only.
In the 21st century, Marsden Building Society will continue to concentrate on delivering long term value to members through competitive rates and quality service. We have an extensive branch network and our access to the market is complemented with wider distribution through the internet, a freephone service and direct sales.
