Britannia has been around since 1856, when we were known
as the Leek and Moorlands Building Society. Since the n a series of agreed
mergers has evolved us into the Britannia we know today.
Our purpose now is the same as it was the n; we are dedicated to helping our
members achieve the ir goals.
That's
why over 2 million members trust us with the ir money, making us the second
largest building society in the UK with nearly £5 billion of gross lending
per annum, and £20 billion of group assets.
But we
don't just stop the re. We go that extra mile to make our members feel special
and to do something noone else does...we use the profits from our subsidiary companies to give our members extra cash in the ir pocket each year. With that,
the Britannia Membership Reward was born. To date, our members have received
a share of a staggering £300 million profit.
If that's
not enough, we feel it's only fair to give something back to the community.
So through our community fund and the Britannia Building Society Foundation,
we have distributed £2.5 million to local charities and voluntary organisations
over the last 5 years.
Obviously
the re's more to it than just offering great products. We continually invest
in staff training programmes to make sure our 3,500 staff can provide you
with the service you need. That's one of the reasons our debt counsellors
have made sure Britannia has one of the lowest arrears and repossession rates
of any financial institution in the UK. Our training programmes have earned
us 'Investors in People' accreditation in 1995 and again in 1999.
So how
can you get our products and services? In a time where everything is fast
paced, we are keen to ensure our products and services are quickly and easily
available. We are keen to utilise the powers of new technology, but we're
still committed to maintaining our extensive branch network whilst continuing
to develop our contact centre and internet options.
All in
all, you can be sure that we're here for our members and the community. If
it wasn't for our members, we would not be where we are today.
Now that's
what we call being mutual.
